Instruments: Djembe, Dununba, Sangban, Kenkeni Resume of teacher: Sebon! has played and composed music since his childhood in Haiti, and has formally studied West African drumming with André Crosby of Trinidad, Lizie Tra-Bi and Eric Bli-Bi of Ivory Coast, Bobby Thomas, Jr. of Miami (and the world!!!),Wade Peterson of San Francisco, Mamady Keita, and other African masters. His virtuosity encompasses traditional Caribbean and West African as well as classical and jazz forms and styles. In 1985 he founded the "Vodou Jazz" band KAZAK. KAZAK's unique fusion of "Rasin" (Haitian Roots music), jazz, political commentary, and electric stage presence led it to be voted "Best Haitian Band" in the Miami New Times for three consecutive years, as well as garnering awards for its educational programs.
