Australia West African Drumcircles

Townsville, Queensland

Tascott, NSW 2250 Tuncurry, NSW 2428

Every First Sunday 1:00 - 4:00pm
Drum Circle (OPEN)
Palmetum (at the wooden gazebo - next to small pond)
Everyone is welcome to come along to this drum circle. The style is fairly open. Sometimes we do West African rhythms and sometimes Cuban rhythms. We also do a lot of on the spot improvisation (facilitated by myself) - very similar to the stuff Arthur Hull does. It has been going for a couple of years. However, given the small size of our city (approx. 110,000 population) we usually get no more than 20 people coming along with their drums. The more regular ones usually bring extra drums for people.

Plenty of trees and shade so lots more come to just sit and listen and have a picnic.
Cost: FREE
Alex says: "I think that's all I could think of. Oh and we do get all sorts of drums there including doumbeks, bodhrans (poor fellow - he always cannot be heard on top of everyone so now he has bought himself a djembe), log drums, congas, djembes etc. etc. etc."
Email Alex for more info.

Our circle is totally organic. Every rhythm just in the now. All ways always welcome. We do full moon circles, an annual gathering and drum circle crawls.
